Street Songs of Love
Product Description
From his days in the now legendary punk/alt-country outfits The Nuns, Rank and File and his own True Believers, to his glowingly received solo gems including 2008’s Real Animal, Escovedo has built a rapturous underground following among fans, songwriting peers and critics alike. His highly anticipated Fantasy Records debut, Street Songs of Love, is a 13-track celebration of survival, liberation and ultimate salvation…. More >>

Alejandro Escovedo’s Street Songs of Love is a driving, surging tour-de-force of unrelenting rock and roll power. He and his band, the three piece Sensitive Boys, bring the house down with a unique mix of garage band, new wave, and roots rock blended together. Ian Hunter provides guest vocals on Down in the Bowery, and he sounds great, maybe the most vital 71-year-old on the planet. Bruce Springsteen shares vocals on the song Faith. But, the triumph is Escovedo’s as he brings songs, many co-written with Chuck Prophet, of the highest quality; there’s no filler, musically or lyrically. Most highly recommended.
Alejandro and the Sensitive Boys indeed. Barely 3 songs in and it’s obvious these guys are just rocking and rolling like there’s no tomorrow. I’m surprised I’m the first fan/reviewer to laud this great American artist in one of his finest hours on his latest. Thank you, Alejandro and the Sensitive Boys. I’m now listening to track 4, Street Songs, and it’s clear you have no cure for your glorious ode to the rocking pneumonia. The man is an American master. Buy it, download it, and see him live. Pay the man his due. You won’t regret it. As he’s singing right now on track 5, Down in the Bowery, with Ian Hunter of Moot the Hoople, I’d buy you a smile….He’s got a tender heart. You want his tender heart! As the AMG reviewer put it, it’s melt-your-face garage band intense! Every track is bound to be just as amazing. Slam dunk, Don Alejandro!
Alejandro has been rocking around under the radar for too long. While this CD is a bit poppier it still is pure Al with clever lyrics and catchy tunes. While I mourn the absence of his sting inspired arrangements, the electrified strings of Al and David Pulkingham are all the strings you really need. For those of you not familiar with his entire catalog, you need to change that. A poet, a troubador in the real sense, a renaissace man in his own right and now a sensitive boy. We love you and we do know why!
